Smoking Cessation

My model for smoking cessation includes three sessions, using a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and hypnotherapy. Both of these approaches to smoking cessation have high success rates. At the same time, an initial telephone interview will confirm your motivation level. Your desire to quit must be high for this effective treatment to work.

Session 1 – Initial Interview – (1.5 hours)
During the initial interview we will look at the unique and specific aspects of your particular habit and addiction. During this first session we will agree on a date of your choice to quit, and schedule the second appointment for that date. You will then be given specific techniques to help you as you move towards your agreed quit date.

Session 2 – Quit Date – (1.5 hours, hypnotherapy)
On the date on which you agree to quit I use a personalized hypnotherapy session to focus very specifically on your smoking triggers and stressors – not only to facilitate your decision to quit, but also to help you to stay stopped, using post-hypnotic suggestions.

Session 3 – Booster Session – (1x hour)
The final session will be scheduled approximately one month after your quit date. This booster session is one in which we explore, together, any potential future stress points that may result in relapse, and deal with them with a cognitive behaviour hypnotherapy session designed to reinforce your decision to stop smoking permanently.
