Therapy help
How can psychotherapy help?
Freud called it ‘The talking cure...’
Anyone, at one time or another, may feel that life seems temporarily overwhelming. Many people find that counselling can help.
Therapy usually consists of regular weekly one-hour meetings with a trained and caring professional. Central to the experience of exploring your thoughts and feelings is the concept of confidentiality. You need to feel safe when talking about your personal concerns, knowing you will be treated with sensitivity.
The therapeutic experience is a personal one. Everyone takes from it what they need or choose. Therapy is also a process. Sometimes change and insight is dramatic and swift. Other times the experience is more subtle, with personal transformation taking place over time.
